Washing Instructions

Recommended: Hand Wash

1. Fill a basin with cold or lukewarm water (max 30°C / 86°F)
2. Add mild detergent — a small amount of gentle soap or wool detergent
3. Submerge the cap and gently swirl for 1-2 minutes
4. Do not scrub the embroidery — rinse it gently
5. Rinse thoroughly in cold water until water runs clear
6. Press water out gently — do not twist or wring

If Machine Washing (Not Recommended)

If you must use a machine, place the cap in a laundry mesh bag, use the delicate cycle with cold water, and remove immediately after the cycle ends.

Drying Instructions

• Reshape while damp — place the cap on a round form (a small bowl, jar, or your hand) to maintain its round shape
• Air dry only — do not put in a tumble dryer
• Away from direct sunlight — long sunlight exposure can fade colors and weaken embroidery thread
• Dry indoors in a well-ventilated room, ideally on a clean towel
• Drying time: typically 4-8 hours

Ironing

Al-Banuri Kufi caps rarely need ironing. If needed:

• Use low heat setting only
• Avoid embroidery — do not iron directly over decorative stitching
• Place a thin cloth between the iron and cap
• Use light pressure only

Storage

• Store flat or on a round form to maintain shape
• Keep in a clean, dry place away from moisture
• Avoid stacking heavy items on top
• For long-term storage, place in a breathable cotton bag (not plastic)
• Add a moth repellent sachet if storing for several months

What to Avoid
